 Yarn: approx. 650 (900, 1250, 1500, 1750) yards of Caron’s Simply Soft Light Yarn, approx. 100 (125, 150, 175, 200) yards of Aunt Lydia’s Size 10 Crochet Thread

Tools: 4.0mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, scissors

Skill Level: Intermediate

Stitches: (ch)chain, (sl st)slip stitch, (dc)double crochet, (sc)single crochet, (hdc)half-double crochet

Finished Bust Measurements:

XXS(XS, S, M, L)

With Sports Weight Yarn

Round 1: Ch.100 (120, 140, 160, 180), join w/ sl st. in 1st  chain (careful not to twist). Turn, Ch.3, dc in each ch. around, continue with dc in 1st  dc and each dc around until piece measures approx. 20 (22, 23, 24, 25) inches. Sc in nxt 5 st, sl st. in nxt 5 st, Finish off.

Flip Piece over to work on opposite side of foundation chain.

(This will be the top of the dress). Join w/sc in any sp., and sc evenly around working sc continuously around until top sc portion measures 6.5 (7, 7.5, 8, 8.5) inches, sl st, in nxt 5 st.

Finish off.

Lace Overlay:

With Thread

Row 1: (Work directly below the sc portion in the top row of Dc) Join w/sc around post of any dc and sc a total of 61 (71, 81, 91, 101) sc across.

Row 2: Turn, ch.1, sc in nxt 61 (71, 81, 91, 101) sc.

Row 3: Turn, ch.3 (counts as dc), dc in nxt sc, *sk nxt 3 sc, (dc, ch.3, dc) in nxt 2 sc, sk nxt 3 sc, dc in nxt 2 sc; repeat from * across.

Row 4: Turn, ch.1, sc 61 (71, 81, 91, 101) evenly across by working sc in each dc and 2sc in each ch.3 sp. up to last ch.3 sp., sc in nxt ch.3 sp., sc in nxt 3 dc.

Row 5: Turn, ch.1 sc in each sc across.

Repeat Rows 3-5 11, (11, 11, 12, 12) more times.

Turn. Ch.2 (counts as hdc), *sk nxt, st., hdc in nxt st. * repeat from * across. Finish off. Weave ends in.


Ch. 120 (120, 130, 130, 140) and finish off. Weave tie through last row of hdc.
